Michael M. has been playing, teaching, performing and studying the guitar for over 30 years. Michael graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a B.A in Music. Michael teaches at Saint Paul Prep academy an international high school in St Paul and also is an instructor to Twin Cities Mobile Jazz Project. In addition to his teaching schedule, Michael performs at various venues in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. Michael enjoys helping both beginners and more advanced students of the guitar reach their musical goals.
Michael also is happy to teach Ukulele (Uke) lessons.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
My lessons are built around each individual student and their needs and goals. I ask my students what they want to achieve and what their goals are then I use my experience to help them reach their goals. My approach is to keep things fun and interesting and at the same time to educate my students in the fundamentals of music. My goal is to help my students reach their potential while at the same time nurturing and encouraging them to think creatively

Music Theory Lessons
We engaged Michael to provide intermediate electric guitar method and music theory training for our 17 year old son, who is an advanced base player. Michael has exactly the skills, experience and professional approach for which we were looking. Excellent Instruction
Michael May is the best music teacher I have ever had, and I have had some very good ones. He is able to relate to where-ever his students are coming from and adapt his lessons to suit each student exactly. His musical intelligence is out of sight (and again I have known and worked with many, many good musicians as a singer). i really can not recommend him highly enough. He is a gem and we are very lucky to have him in the Twin Cities. With his work ethic and incredible musicality he could easily compete in a market like New York City or Chicago, but he is a family man and his family is here. That makes us the lucky ones. Great Teacher!
I am a 40 year old guy and my buddy and my son have been taking group lessons with Michael for the last few months. He is an incredible teacher. He is patient and very knowledgeable. He has an uncanny ability to not only teach the mechanics of guitar, but also how to help his students better understand music as a whole. Need a Guitar teacher
Michael May is an excellent guitar teacher. I started with Mike recently and not only has my playing already dramatically improved, but my overall knowledge of how music works has greatly increased as well. Michael has a great ability to make very difficult concepts understandable, and he is well-prepared for each lesson. He is also a superb guitar player in his own right. I have taken guitar lessons at Twin Town, Blackbird's, several private instructors I found on CraigsList and am also currently taking a Minneapolis Community Education guitar class. Wonderful Teacher!
Michael is a wonderful teacher! He has taught my son guitar for two years, and my son has improved tremendously--he is now in his high school's top jazz band.
