Stan B (Write Review) New Port Richey, FL
Stan B, a native of upstate NY, has been playing music as long as he can remember. Beginning with a cheap, barely tuneable “toy” guitar at age 5, he started serious lessons at age 9 with jazz guitarist and Columbia recording artist George O’Dell. The lessons ended 4 and 1/2 years later but the learning continued as Stan began studying Classical guitar and the Chet Atkins style of finger picking simultaneously. By age 18, he was playing in country, country rock and pop bands in upstate NY and was soon a highly regarded and sought after player as well as a vocalist, performing at clubs, weddings, fairs and other outdoor events, in addition to recording with many NY musicians. Several trips to Nashville, TN helped to broaden Stan’s opportunities and recording sessions and work with road bands followed as a result. Besides his versatility on guitar, Stan also plays dobro, upright and electric bass and sings. One of the high points of his career was and still is when Chet Atkins complemented Stan’s recording of some of his original compositions. Stan has recorded 4 CDs and his latest was featured in an Artist/CD Profile in the July, 2016 issue of "Fingerstyle Journal".
