Nate E (Write Review) Columbia, Maryland
Jazz guitarist Nate, is an improviser comfortable in many different styles and with broad range of colors and emotions to draw on. His earliest jazz influences are the Bossa Nova Jazz of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Cool Jazz of Stan Getz, which lead naturally to an interest in American jazz. His “So Nice (Samba de Verão)” performance at the Coffee House Under the Stars at Howard Community College created “a vision of a beach in Brazil” according to DCMetrotheaterarts. He was honored to perform during a HCC Spotlight Recital with his Jazz duo and played his own arrangement of “Oleo” by Sonny Rollins for two guitars. Fusing his love of Latin and Cool Jazz with his studies of the American Jazz styles, Nate is able to incorporate many styles and colors into his improvisation. Born in Davao, a southern city of the Philippines, Nate moved to California, USA in his late teens with his parents. Nate graduated in 2014 with an Associate of Arts degree in Music Performance- Jazz at Howard Community College. Nate is currently pursing a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Music with Jazz emphasis at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
