Eric B. (Write Review) Phoenix, AZ
Both self-taught and well-educated, I am truly a teacher who gets results. I have taught many students who I am very proud to say still play their chosen instrument to this day. I have a deep love for all music, which has helped me successfully learn and teach every genre from Classical to Country; from Blues to Rock and Roll, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock, Alternative, and Indie. And the list goes on… For me, teaching is a collaboration between the student and the teacher, not some one-sided exchange wherein the teacher stands and speaks while the student sits and listens. The guided learning of any musical instrument is a most interactive process in which the knowledge gained by the student is directly proportional to the amount of energy they put into it. It is my mission to make this process as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.
Eric B. has over 15 years of music experience in the Phoenix area.
I have already completed all the required music courses and almost all the prerequisite courses toward my Associate in Arts degree in the field of Music Theory and Composition. My graduation is pending for the Spring or Fall semester of 2017.
I am a lifelong student of music with many years of experience. I have played keyboards for over 25 years, guitar for over 20 years, and drums for over 15 years. I also play bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, saxophone, concert band percussion including xylophone and marimba, as well as Latin and African percussion. I have also been singing basically since I could speak.
I am a multi-instrumentalist who performs on: acoustic and electric guitars, piano and keyboards, drums and percussion, bass guitar, and vocals. I have been performing live before audiences and in studio settings for over 20 years. I have been the leader of various bands and music ensembles of all shapes, sizes and styles. I have also steadily performed as a singer/songwriter on vocals, guitar and keyboards in solo settings, as well as one-man-band with a loop station and/or by playing multiple instruments simultaneously.
I have been a private music instructor for over 15 years. During my time as a teacher/instructor, I have taught students of all ages on guitar, bass guitar, drums/percussion, piano/keyboards, and voice. I also teach Song Writing and how to be a Recording Engineer and Producer of recorded music. I have learned first-hand that the learning of multiple instruments, the art of songwriting and composition, and being able to record music widens one’s knowledge of music as a whole while reinforcing the comprehension of each instrument and every aspect of music individually. In essence, this helps a person better understand music as both a creative art form and a formal science, which in turn makes one a better musician. All of the above makes me a uniquely qualified teacher of music and various instruments.

Passion and Technique (10.00)
"Eric transcends the role of instructor to function as a true mentor of music. He encourages people to explore music to find your personal touch. His holistic approach not only allows students to learn tips and tricks, but allows the player to experience the connections and possibilities that opens up a world of creation and related abilities. He inspired me to pursue music as a personal venture that became my main outlet for expression. From the time I picked up a guitar to play my first chords to advanced theories of composition, he has guided me in the most personally fulfilling venture of my life."
