About Me
Troy began his musical career in composition and production, but soon after fell in love with vocal performance. Over the years, he has performed genres including jazz, sacred, art song, and opera. Past roles include “The Captain” in The Sound of Music, “Hysterium” in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, “Superintendent Budd” in Britten’s Albert Herring, “The Foreman” in Trial by Jury, “Don Andreas” in Offenbach’s La Perichole, “Belcore” in Donizetti’s, L’Elisir D’Amore, “Sarastro,” “Sprecher,” and “The Priest” in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, "The Chief of Police" in Menotti's Amelia Goes to the Ball, and "Ariodate" in Handel's Xerxes Serse. Troy has also been a featured soloist for Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem and Haydn’s Creation. Between 2007 and 2011, he was a member of the Tulsa Opera chorus in six productions, including the 2008 premier of Delibes’ Lakme, and the 2011 premier of Bellini’s Norma. During Troy’s time in Tulsa, he was a featured soloist for several churches, including First Christian Church and Harvard Avenue Christian Church. In 2013, he was a member of The University of Central Oklahoma’s a capella vocal quintet Una Voce, and joined the UCO Chamber Singers. In May of the same year, he was a featured soloist for the University of Central Oklahoma’s Duke Ellington’s Sacred Masterworks Concert. What to expect in my song writing lessons:

Beginner - Intermediate
I would expect a songwriting student to have something tangible to present, be it audio preferably a .wav or .mp3 file or print music. From there, my methods will be dependent on the writers' method of creation. Aside from piano writing, I use technology such as Finale, Cubase, Audacity, and Fruity Loops. That said, no two writers approach songwriting the same.

What to expect in my keyboard and piano lessons:

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
A review/performance of assigned materials and discussion on technique and music theory as it applies to their repertoire. Repertoire can include piano pieces in or outside of a method book, supplementary repertoire collections, as well as scales and etudes. I provide many handouts, so I ask all students to have a three-ring binder and pencil in every lesson.

What to expect in my vocal lessons:

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Vocal lesson will have warm-ups, discussions on technique and music theory as it applies to their repertoire, and working through the student's music. We will also focus on the physiology of the vocal apparatus and how daily activities mental and physical can effect the signing voice. I provide many handouts, so I ask all students to have a three-ring binder and pencil in every lesson.
