About Me

I am 23 years old. I am a returning student to San Francisco State University to obtain a B.A in Music: Jazz Emphasis. I resume my university studies in January.

I was born in Indonesia, and relocated to the United States in 2001. I speak both English and Indonesian fluently.

I have always enjoyed the piano, and is my passion. I began my piano education at the age of 8 and currently enjoys teaching and playing for fun. I am also pursuing a mastery in jazz.

I am an easy-going, patient, enthusiastic, responsible, and passionate young man with great optimism about life and the future, and all those that I will touch through my musical capabilities.

Returning to the University in January to obtain a B.A in Music: Jazz Emphasis.

Daily classes of Gregorian Chant and Sacred Music.

Private Education:

I have taken piano lessons on and off throughout my life. 2 notable lesson periods were:

1) 2003-2004: I studied under a San Francisco Bay Area pianist and band member, he taught me the art of playing-by-ear and piano accompaniment.

2) 2006-2007: I studied under a professional private teacher who held a Master's Degree in Music, she is still an active Classical performer in the Bay Area.

Performing Experience:

I have a good amount of performance history for the past 4 years. They were:

1) 2006-2008: As a Church pianist playing with a Choir and Band every Sunday.

2) 2008-2009: I was a Catholic Missionary and I arranged, directed, and performed in various common and solemn liturgical events throughout the year. I also performed solo for various fundraising events throughout the year.

3) 2009-2010: I was studying in a Catholic Seminary and I had the privilege to perform for many outstanding Benefactors and Church Dignitaries. These included Bishops and Archbishops. A couple notable names that I performed for were Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Denver, and the former private secretary of Pope Benedict XVI Bishop Josef Clemens of Germany. I was also the main organist of the seminary during this time, and I performed daily.

Experience Teaching:

I began to privately teach at the age of 19 for 1 1/2 years. My students came from various backgrounds and different age levels ranging from 6 - 68 years old. I taught students of all levels, from a first-time beginner to an advanced classical player seeking to learn by ear. I had the greatest joy of teaching students how to listen to a song and translating them onto the ivory keys, accentuating their own individuality. I took a break from teaching during my Missionary year and when I studied in the Catholic Seminary. I have now resumed my private teaching.
