About Me

Max was born in the beautiful and historic Great Barrington, Massachusetts to artistic parents. He exhibited interests in music from an early age, often drumming along to music being played in the house. At age 8, he started to find his voice on different instruments including piano, bass, saxophone, guitar, and drums, eventually settling on electric bass as his primary and drums as his secondary. Throughout junior high, Max practiced passionately and developed leadership and writing skills by forming his own bands. By the time he reached Monument Mountain Regional High School, he had developed a deep interest in jazz and funk fusion, and was quickly noticed by the older musicians in the music program, which led to his first big project, The Interlopers Music. For the next two years, Max would complete many local gigs, two tours, one album, and various singles with the now Boston-based group. He left the band to pursue a degree in jazz performance at Oberlin Conservatory, where he has since performed at the Kennedy Center and The Bitter End, and has performed internationally in South Africa and India. He now studies and plays with his mentors Billy Hart, Peter Dominguez, Jamey Haddad, and Paul Samuels. He has shared the stage with musicians such as Billy Hart, Sullivan Fortner, and Greg Abate.

Performing Experience:

Gigging since age 14, many local/general business gigs. Multiple tours and recordings sessions with Boston based group The Interlopers in 2012-13, played at Kennedy Center Millenium Stage Feb. 2015, South Africa tour September 2016, India tour January 2017. Has shared stage with Billy Hart, Sullivan Fortner, Jamey Haddad.
