Billy Lo

Having grown up in New York City I was exposed to many styles of music. I started out on drums playing classic rock, punk, and heavy-metal. Later on I delved heavy into Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Reggae and Caribbean music – both on drumset and percussion. Having played drumset with so many percussion players, I learned to make a beat, or pattern groove – to feel good. I learned along the way that no matter the style of music, this is the key to making the band leader, other musicians, and show-goers happy and wanting more. I teach by ear but encourage reading and basic charting for those looking to play either for fun or money. Whether wanting to learn to play your favorite groove, prepare to play in a band, or just get to the next level, I’m here to help.
