Music has been Derek’s life from a very young age. He has played saxophone, piano, and percussion for over 20 years. Derek has played with numerous grips, not limited to: The Arizona Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, The Arizona Wind Symphony, The Ambassadors of Music Throughout Greater Europe, The ASU Steel Drum Band, The Arizona Regional Band, The Corona del Sol WGI World Percussion Ensemble, as well as "for-hire” sessions. He has performed at various venues throughout the greater Phoenix Metro area with the successful indie band PALMS, signed to 80/20 Records.   His lessons will cover areas such as drum beats, songs, warm-ups, approaches to technique, skill-building exercises, rudiments, tuning, chart reading, basic musical theory, developing internal subdivision, world percussion, instrument care, drum history, orchestral percussion, hand drums, differences among types of equipment, aspects of performance, and studio recording.
