Genna Has been teaching and performing in the Tampa Bay area for over 16 years. She has had a love for music for as long as she can remember, always active in musical groups and talent shows. As a young adult she was active in plays, choirs and community productions. It was while singing in the church choir that she made the decision to pursue music as a career. She received a Bachelor of Arts in music performance with a concentration in voice and theater from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro College of Visual and Performing Arts, where she attended and assisted in numerous recitals, operas, jazz concerts, master classes, contests, musicals and contemporary theater. She studied private piano with Dr. Paul Steward, the chair of the piano department. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon a community service organization and was a music camp counselor. She has appeared in Operas such as Tosca and Carmen, and has performed solo arias by Puccini and Mozart. Some of her performance credits include, Camelot, Phantom, Kiss Me Kate, Hair and The Who's Tommy. She completed music education classes and instrumental workshops such as guitar methods and vocal pedagogy, a Masters course for teachers of singing. She has also conducted a prestigious music and movement program for young children. She has taught and enjoys singing and playing a variety of musical styles from jazz, pop, rock and musical theater, to classical art songs and opera. Most recently she has been focused on original song writing. She has also performed locally for restaurants and other community venues. As an instructor, her philosophy is to discover one's unique natural singing and playing style. She has supported her students in numerous recitals and performances throughout the years. Her students have received major roles in musical theater productions and have been accepted into performing arts intensives and conservatories. She believes piano/keyboarding and or voice lessons in general, help individuals of any age and background improve their confidence, cognitive; memory and communication skills allowing a better quality of life. There is also the the theraputic benefits participating in music has, proven in clinical studies. Lessons will include building a strong foundation for any style of music. She believes it is important to learn fundamentals such as reading and writing music, sight playing and singing, and ear training. Hi there. I am looking to start my 5 year old with piano lessons. We have a small keyboard at home that she plays with and is very interested. What would lessons entail for her age, time, cost etc. thanks so much!!!
