About Me

I picked up the guitar when I was about 11 and haven't stopped playing since. I have played and taught for over 6 years. I have been an instructor at a studio here in Spokane teaching all styles of guitar (folk, rock, country etc), as well as bass, piano/synth and some vocals. I have excellent references. I am proficient as a teacher on bass and keyboards as well as guitar. I have a classical background on piano but adapt my teaching style to what the student wants to learn. Want lots of theory?.. little theory-play by ear, learn to write your own music? You name it. I work with you. You can hear some of my piano/synth original originals at cdbaby.com under "Kid Dreams" (Jack Connelly) You can bring your favorite songs and you'll learn them right from the cd. My piano instruments are a Korg M-3, and Yamaha Motif deck. I use an Ibanez acoustic/electric, Charvel and Laguna electric guitars in the lessons. I also have cool pedals you can play with ie. Digitech RP 500 and Boss Loop Station. Oh, and a new hammer dulcimer. WOW. My lessons are FUN! You learn a lot too. Check me out and let's learn together!

Formal Education:

I have loved music since I was a small child.
I attended Moberly High School (where I created, developed and taught the first group guitar class at the school) Special work note: I work full time at a Kaiser Aluminum plant here in Spokane on 12 hour days to nights shift. I know my schedule a year in advance. However it is flexible with 2 1/2 days off one week and then 4 days off the next. My students have worked very well with this schedule in the past.

Private Education:

I took classical piano instruction for 7 years in grade school. My guitar and bass skills are self taught.

Performing Experience:

I have played my own compositions in a professional atmosphere in a number of venues in Spokane WA. Among them are Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Red Lion Inn (formally Cavanaughs restaurant, Patsy Clarks Restaurant and the Paulson Building.I have played guitar and keyboards in various bands over the years.I am confident in several guitar styles and have a well developed ear.
