I'm a 23 year old drummer and college student (currently a Junior at URI).  Before going to college I was in the US Navy as a Sonar Technician aboard the USS Bremerton Submarine stationed in Pearl Harbor.

Music Background:

I have always been a very musical person, I received my first drum set at 14 and started off by taking formal lessons for 3 years.  I was also in my high school band (in the percussion section).  I have also taken several college level music courses including Music 101, History of Jazz, and Music Theory.  I have been in several bands before and after my term in the military, playing mostly parties and college events.  Aside from all of that I continue to practice daily, mastering my rudiments and exploring different styles of music.

I know I would be a great teacher because when you combine my experience with different kinds of instructors (including instructional DVD's by Thomas Lang, Steve Smith, Benny Greb, Jojo Mayer, etc.), I have learned some of the best methods on teaching the instrument to young students.  I also have a 14 year old brother who I am currently teaching, and he is turning into a great drummer.

I know these may not be the ideal qualifications that you are looking for, but nonetheless I would love the opportunity to prove to you that I know my instrument and can teach it well.
