Alexus has always loved music from an early age. She began playing flute at the age of 12 and continued her music education by attending Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts, Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts, Chattanooga State Technical Community College, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her influences include flutists such as Jasmine Choi, Herbie Mann, Nina Perlove, Katie Althen, and Emmanuel Pahud. Alexus' favorite thing about music is the experiences and her favorite thing about teaching music is sharing those experiences with others.
