Chip began playing drums at the age of 12. Over the years, he developed his skills further by playing in bands and teaching himself by playing with his favorite bands' albums. He gained performance experience in the Cleveland/Akron area by playing at such venues as The Agora, House of Blues and The Odeon and with acts such as Mushroomhead, Trivium, and other big national bands. Though Chip can teach many genres of music, his musical personal favorites are rock and metal which had great influence on his style of playing. Chip loves music because it's what I love and what I want to do for the rest of my life and loves teaching music because I want to see more thriving and successful musicians so when I set down the sticks when I'm older I'm able to know that we'll still have great musicians taking over what we've laid the groundwork for.
