Hi, my name is Garrison and I am a student from the Kent State School of Music. I have been a student of music for 1 year. My musical influences are vast, from Rock to Jazz, and I enjoy bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, and many other groups spanning all genres. My teaching style can best be described as personal and not complicated, I tend to explain concepts in a way I think the student would better understand. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I am not just a teacher, I am a guide and a friendly face that will show your child the way I've learned music. In my lessons, you can expect to learn technique, music theory, and songwriting. I like to tell my students, “I was in your shoes not long ago, I understand how it is to learn." My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the progress and light bulbs go off in students. My favorite performance was probably the time I saw Queens of the Stone Age live. My students love that I "am not some old guy screaming about stuff [the student] doesn't understand." I primarily teach guitar and bass, but I can also teach music theory and composition / songwriting. My approach as a teacher is to simply find your child's influences and help your child mold a style and presence with their craft. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
