About Me

Hey guys! My name is Bob, but you can call me Mr. L, like my Cane Bay band students used to do. I grew up in Mt. Pleasant, SC, but I now live in Goose Creek. I love cars, video games, and spending time with my friends and family, especially my future wife. I have been a student of music for almost 20 years. My principal instrument to play and teach is the trumpet, but I honestly enjoy teaching all brass instruments. According to my students, I have a unique, open teaching style. I work with them, at their level, to hone their craft and reach greater heights than they usually realize they are capable of grabbing. It is my philosophy to let each student grow into the better musician and better person that they were always meant to be. I have taught and performing music professionally for over a decade, and in that time, I have witnessed great accomplishments from my students. I’ve taught brass master classes with organizations like the Charleston Jazz Academy as well as at Charleston Southern University. From having the number four chair trumpet in the 2018 SCBDA All State Senior Band and the number one chair trumpets in each of the four years previous to students with full ride scholarships to the University of South Carolina to play in the concert band and trumpet ensemble, my teaching record speaks for itself.
