What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I have taken professional saxophone lessons for fifteen years. I played in an elite Wind Ensemble during college and studied jazz theory on saxophone. I have been teaching saxophone for five years now. I also teach introductory woodwinds of all sorts if necessary as I have played flute and clarinet as well.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

Though I concentrated on performance, my undergraduate studies focused on music theory as well. I have studied and analyzed all genres. Composition classes were rigorous and through them I learned a great deal about songwriting. I also performed in an a cappella group for which I wrote pieces, so I have experience with popular genres as well. I compose regularly for my own artistic pursuits, and several of my students are original artists as well.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

I teach beginner voice/piano combination lessons. I also teach piano lessons exclusively up through the intermediate level. Students can expect piano to center on note reading, theory, form, posture, and ear-training.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

I have taken professional voice lessons for twenty-one years, four of which I completed in order to graduate with a music major concentrated on performance. I have taught voice lessons professionally now for five years. I have been traced and retraced my steps around this block time and time again. In doing so, I've picked up quite a lot over the years. I know many tricks and tips and techniques. I love nothing more than to share my knowledge with students, new or experienced. Any age, any background, any goal, any genre. I am completely comfortable teaching voice lessons. It is my favorite subject to teach. Students can expect holistic perspectives. I believe in teaching students how to take care of their bodies with singing in mind. After all the body is the instrument when it comes to the voice. I teach proper posture and breathing techniques. I help students figure out what exactly they want to sing and why? Sometimes there doesn't even need to be a why, but figuring out what works for singers is the entire point of taking lessons. I help singers to find their voices, and that's the best reward of all.
