Spencer Fi

I received a B.A. in Music from University of Oregon. My specialty was jazz and jazz history. It was a very rigorous 5 year program that I completed in 4.

I started playing when I was 14. I taught myself to play, and then started taking lessons at 15. I studied for 3 years in Corvallis, OR with an excellent teacher and then applied and was accepted to UO. At UO I studied with two world renowned classical pianists, Claire Wachter and Victor Steinhardt.

Since graduating college, I have played over 250 shows in Oregon. I led a successful jazz trio for 3 years. I am an active musician who plays shows regularly here in Portland. I am part of 3 groups as of now, all very different. I play in a live hip hop/rock band, an indie pop/rock band, and my own band, which is instrumental funk jazz fusion. I play a variety of keyboards and synthesizers in all of these groups. I have recorded several albums and I am in demand as a session player.

 I have informally taught lessons over the years. I want to become a teacher, and I have method books and a teaching curriculum ready to go.
