Hi, my name is Maria, and I am a violinist from Venezuela. I have been a student of music for 18 years. I have been trained in "El Sistema" and I've been part of both first and second violins row. I've taught violin and viola lessons for beginners and intermediates, individually and in workshops. My favorite thing about teaching is that I get to see the progress of my students and also I learn new things with every student. I primarily teach violin, but I can also teach viola. What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
In the first class I like to know if the student has any knowledge in music and what made them want to learn the instrument. If they have some knowledge I like to see what they know so I can determine an appropriate path base on what they already know. If the student has no knowledge I start with the basics like recognizing the instrument's parts, the name of the notes, the name of the instrument's strings. As the student progress with the lessons I introduce some basic concepts of music theory that will help with the practice of the instrument.
Formal Education:
I've been trained in Ciudad Guayana Youth Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela since 2003, where I've developed my skills as an orchestral violinist and learnt music theory. I am a Bachelor in Administration and I'm currently working on a Music Performance degree.
Private Education:
I've received private lessons form various violin teachers in Venezuela.
Performing Experience:
I've performed since 2003 in the first and second violins row in the orchestra in Venezuela.
Experience Teaching:
Teaching to kids/adults starting at 5 years old in the beginner and intermediate level.
