About Me

With a degree in music composition, independently released solo recordings and award-winning songs and multimedia music projects, as a teacher I bring a broad perspective, depth of understanding and a holistic approach to music that aims to develop intellectual, emotional and creative intelligences in all students. I work with young beginners to senior citizens and also special needs (such as Autism, ADD/ADHD, PDD-NOS, etc.) and focus on keeping all students motivated with fun lessons while facilitating the necessary challenges in order to efficiently progress in musical knowledge and skill. Also, as an author of newly published music pedagogical books, I specialize in developing new, original techniques and lesson materials in an accessible and innovative way. I teach a wide variety of styles in order to build understanding and appreciation for music as an important art form. These styles include: tradional/classical, jazz/improvisatory, World/multicultural, popular/showtunes, and original songwriting and composition lessons for all ages. I am respectful and sensitive to every student's (and/or parents') requests and thus tailor my lessons to suit any specific values, goals and preferences.

Undergraduate Studies: Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA)
New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, MA)
Degree in composition/piano earned in 2001 from California Institute of the Arts, (Los Angeles, CA)

Private Education:

Louis J. Williford, Piano teacher- classical training from age 7-15. Current, ongoing professional development.

Performing Experience:

Various jazz bands (large and small ensembles), a cappella chorus, solo jazz piano work. 3 independently released solo recordings.

Experience Teaching:

2003-independent private instructor. Worked with Melody Music Studios (online) as well as Music Box Studios (in NY) and with Star Dance Center in Newhall, CA.
