Jackson began playing guitar at the age of 10. Over the years, he developed his skills further by studying jazz with professional guitarist, John Hart, at UM and by participating in competitions such as the Wilson Center International guitar competition where he took 2nd Place in the Rock/Blues category in 2018. He gained performance experience in the Twin Cities, MN area by playing at such venues as the Black Dog, the 318 Cafe, and Jazz Central. He has played with acts such as the Bill Simenson Big Band and the Zacc Harris group as well as with his own groups such as the JacksonQuintet. Though Jackson can teach many different genres of music, his personal favorites are rock/blues, pop and jazz which had great influence on his style of playing. Jackson loves music because it's the most fulfilling creative outlet he's found and loves teaching music because he enjoys "passing the torch" and helping less experienced players unlock their potential. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, Jackson can help you expand and enhance your playing. Jackson is excited to learn how he can help you reach your musical goals.
