Hi! I'm Bri, and while my primary career is as a teen author, I absolutely love music and teaching. I have played the violin for twenty years; music is a passion of mine. I have played in orchestras, both chamber and traditional, in solos, in small ensembles, and in improvisational worship music since I was a kid. I am obsessed with classical music, but I also own a five-string electric violin and sometimes you can find me cranking up the distortion and playing Led Zeppelin on that. I would love to help you learn to play, or to help you with your technique if you've already got the basics down! ***Available 6.18.2018 and on!***

Beginner - Intermediate
The thing I am most interested in as a teacher is making you better. If you're just beginning, awesome; I want to help you start out! If you already play beautifully, I want to help you be the absolute best player you can be. For beginning students, I typically use the Suzuki lesson book, but have my own method of teaching it. We will go through a (non-Suzuki) scale book to learn notes and finger placement, then hit Suzuki's songs to learn how to play. I also incorporate note-learning into my lessons, something Suzuki often doesn't hit early on, but music is a new language, and you should be immersed in it, notes and all! We'll go through that, and any music you might want to go over from school. For more advanced students, I want to cater what you need to *you*. We will absolutely go over scales, and can go through the Suzuki books as I believe the repertoire can be extremely helpful. But I also want to go over any pieces, solos, stuff that's tripping you up, that you might be tackling in an orchestra whether that's through school or extra-curricular. Ultimately, I want you to leave my studio every day having learned, having worked, and a better musician. I am supportive and encouraging, and happy to let you know what you're doing *right*, but I'm not gonna let you slack! There are no finger placement stickers here, and I'm not gonna let the little things slide, because what we both want is for you to be the best musician you can possibly be. And I believe that you can be great.
Formal Education:
Orchestral groups in high school: Concert orchestra, pit orchestra, chamber orchestra, and various solo and ensemble groups. Orchestra member at Colorado Mesa University as a high schooler and college student.
Private Education:
Private Lessons from age 8-20. All instruction from age 14 on was with Carlos Elias, director of Colorado Mesa University's music program and multiple time player at Carnegie Hall.
Performing Experience:
I have performed with high school and college orchestras, as well as with multiple church groups. My musical performances have ranged from complex orchestral pieces to classic rock. I also had the opportunity to play a brief violin part for a musician's CD several years ago.
Experience Teaching:
I have taught creative writing to full classroom in several classes in a homeschool co-op, as well as speech classes in a charter school. I have given private music lessons in piano and violin to children for several years (though I am far more comfortable teaching the violin).
