Hello! My name is Sarah and I just graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I have been tutoring students in music for 8 years now, and I get more excited about teaching every day! I have been playing violin for 13 years and clarinet for 12 years, and I am familiar with all of the other traditional string, wind and percussion instruments as well, including guitar and ukulele. I love teaching for a lot of reasons, but one of my favorite things about it is the opportunity to share the joy of music with others. It's incredibly rewarding to get to know my students, find out how the learn best and then watch them grow. Thank you for considering me and I hope to meet you soon!

What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons

I can offer classical training for students from the first time they pick up their instrument through high school. Depending on what the goals of the student are, I can build general musical skills technical skills, basic music theory and ear training, historical contexts of pieces, help students prepare solo works for performance, or focus on ensemble music. My teaching philosophy focuses on making students feel safe and welcome, and creating independent musicians. I expect musical excellence and am willing to find every possible way to approach a concept until my student understands it.
