About Me

I have been playing drums for over 15 years and my music journey started in middle school band playing percussion. I played both concert percussion and played on the drum line throughout my time in school band. I have also played drum kit for 14 of the 15 years. The first song I learned on the drum kit was “Crazy Train” by Ozzy. When I was about 19 I got an endorsement deal with Billy’s Drum Shop in Stillwater but they have unfortunately closed their business. While the shop was still open, I would substitute for the owner and teacher if he had a lesson he couldn’t make. When I was about 20, I was accepted into the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and Music Business. In my time playing with bands I have played with R&B/Hip-Hop, heavy rock, psychedelic rock, country, Top 40, and blues bands. I love to play anything and am always trying to work on something new to help me grow as a player.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

The focus with my students will be to teach fundamentals and technique as well as creativity and to help find one’s own voice on the drums.

Formal Education:

Playing in middle school and high school concert and marching bands as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and Music Business.

Private Education:

I have taken 6 years of private drum lessons.

Performing Experience:

I have played in bands ranging from Heavy Rock to Hip-Hop and R&B. I have played in Large Auditoriums down to open mics.

Experience Teaching:

Since starting to play, I have always taught simple grooves to my friends and family members. I have been a substitute instructor in the past and am currently working on teaching my 7 year old.
