8 Years
Hello, my name is Adrian and I've been playing music of all genres for 19 years. I stepped on stage at 15 and have performed with internationally acclaimed musicians, recorded professionally with Grammy award-winning artists/engineers, and have worked with the local music community for over a decade and a half. Guitar is my primary instrument but like to use piano and voice as tools and vice versa depending on what the student hopes to achieve. I specialize in songwriting If you are already an experienced player and want to engage more original composition or are beginning/rudimentary player hoping to one day write your own songs, I'm the instructor for you. Will use enentry-level sight-reading, advanced charts, and basic music theory to carry out your goals. I have taught all ages and experience levels.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Guitar is my primary instrument and I am approaching 20 years of experience. Beginners will start with and master first position scales and chords. Once this is achieved we will use that gained background to explore beyond and transfer that gained knowledge to the rest of the instrument. Along the way we will also explore basic theory in hopes we can leave with a rudimentary understanding of music beyond just playing a tune. I have general materials and then cater the traditional method of learning guitar to musical taste and goals. As with any instructor we will always stretch, warm up and keep up our instruments. Intermediate players will have the same approach with the added ability to jump around in the syllabus. If you feel beyond this but need guidance in writing and composition, we can explore either the conceptual or theory to advance your skills/equip you with more tools to apply to your playing.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Singing was a result of spending many years in different groups. I ended up loving access to my voice as a writing tool and instrument in any situation. We will use a piano and entry-level sight-reading to familiarize you with general music theory. We will also approach a multitude of vocal exercises, stretches, and massages, to keep voice your voice healthy, flexible, and strong I have developed a mix of traditional vocal exercises and under advisement of a speech pathologist have expanded my regiment. Once we have developed enough muscle memory to perfect a number of scales, we will test our ability with some standards. Shadowing the piano until we can perfect the song. Once we've gotten to this point or if you already have these rudimentary skills we will approach song choice and fully identify your range and falsetto. In this part of the process we can explore style, harmonies and work specific songs. For more advanced students we can discuss transposition and arrangement.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
My guitar playing eventually led me to song writing and it quickly evolved into the part of music I became most passionate about. If you're not familiar we will start with basic music lessons as well as choosing/discussing the tools of your choice from software, piano, guitar, vocals, etc.. We will go over cross genres, markets, prose, plosives, rhyme, meter, creating charts/sheet music, themes, communication, and interpretations. Songwriting is so open and wide spanning after a few lessons of generalities or if you are more advanced we can approach specific goals, songs, genre, and lyrics. For advanced writers we will work on re-tooling, transposition, and what I call working backward with a limited pallet to expand your approaches and increase productivity/precision All of this in hopes that you can master your own voice and effectively interpret your ideas into reality.
