Hi, my name is Michael, and I am from Soldotna, Alaska. I have been a student of music for most of my life. I grew up in a musical family and have always been in love with the artistic freedom of music. My musical influences include a wide spectrum from Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly to Tosin Abasi and Sigur Ros. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I wish to teach the basic structures of western music all while encouraging the development of the individual's expression through their music. In my lessons, you can expect to learn scales, chords, songwriting. My favorite thing about teaching is watching someone grasp an idea that is completely new to them, and then see them utilize it in their own musical expression.
