To Whom It May Concern, music is a more potent instrument than any other form of education. ~Plato Hello, my name is Linton McNeeley and I am a percussionist from Detroit, MI. I am a music teacher at Detroit Premier Academy on Detroit's west side. I've been producing and composing music electronically for the past 8 years. Music fuels my life and I would regard myself as something like “The Poster Board Child” for the enrichment that music provides to ones life. By now you have a glimpse of how passionate I am about music but I am equally as strong in my conviction of what music can add to the life of children as well as adults. I’ve had the experience of being blessed with wonderful music teachers, which have inspired me. That inspiration has developed into a desire to teach and give to my community in a similar way. I will create positive experiences for students to develop their music skills, while providing opportunities for growth and learning through creative and healthy expression. Learning music should be just as fun as teaching music and I do enjoy teaching. I believe that the teacher-student relationship is one that greatly impacts the students success in music and how they appreciate their craft and how they feel about themselves. My favorite thing about teaching is learning the student and how they view music. This will not only assist me in teaching, but to create a comfortable space for them to freely express themselves. My philosophy is that with the help of someone who shares the same passion they can become more than just a great musician, but a better person overall. Which is why students will learn music theory and all the etiquette that goes into performing. Though my instrument of choice and the majority of my teaching experience is percussion, I can also teach music theory, composition for various instruments, and music production.
