About Me

Hi, my name is Ross and I am a musician from Hawaii. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My musical influences include groove and pocket drummers, and I also enjoy writing music. My teaching style can best be described as unorthodox. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that the metronome is your best friend. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to become a pocket player. I like to tell my students that less is more, and that dynamics is everything. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the light go on in a students head once they are able to grasp a concept. My favorite performance was the time I fell off my drum throne, but miraculously kept time! My students love that I'm patient. I primarily teach drum set, but I can also teach drum rudiments. What to expect in my Drum Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

My students will experience writing music that is poetic, and full of imagery. Minor and major chord structures will be explored to express the feel and attitude of the student.

Beginner - Intermediate

As a student of mine, you can expect to learn a variety techniques that will excel you towards becoming a pocket player. Beginners as well as advanced students will become proficient at performing rudiments, which will inevitably improve your stamina and technique. I promise that you will leave each and every lesson with skills that can be applied to both the drum set and life.
