Oliver S.

Hello music enthusiasts! My name is Oliver. I grew up in a very musical family. My mother was a singer-songwriter, and played guitar in an all-female Celtic group. She also was a recording artist, and recorded several solo albums, as well as collaborations with other acoustic artists. She also performed with my father who is a classical guitar and mandolin player. I performed in theater productions with my mother playing mandolin at the age of 20, and began teaching lessons independently at that time. I moved to New York City in 2003 and continued giving mandolin, guitar, and bass lessons, as well as participating in performing arts in small productions and some studio session work. My mother passed away in 2011, and when I moved back to the Midwest, I started a music studio with a friend, specializing in teaching fundamental lessons to children as young as 7, to advanced instruction to adults. We also acted as a studio session band to artists recording in our studio. The local newspaper wrote a front page piece about our work with children and our background in music, which was a rewarding and humbling experience for me. I have been a stay-at-home dad recently, giving lessons to people part time in my music room here in our home. I look forward to providing my space, and travel to motivated and music-loving students of all ages.
