Webcam
14 Years
Trombonist, Joel comes from Findlay, Illinois where he started his pursuit in music at the age of 10 years old. Joel continued his passion in music at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale in Music Performance. Morehead State is where he then traveled and is currently working towards his Master's degree in Music Performance. He has worked with many professional musicians such as Zoltan Kiss, Christian Lindburg, and the 80's rock band Head East. Throughout his education, Joel has studied under Professor Clinton McCanless, Dr. Jessica Butler, Dr. Nathan Dishman, and Dr. Russell Zokaites. His teaching philosophy is to simply teach the students how to teach themselves and guide their way to learning the amazing instrument of trombone.
Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
For beginners, we will work on the basics of creating a sound and learning the slide positions of the trombone. The main focus will be on developing a sound. For an intermediate musician, we will look into warm-up/practice routines and exercises that can go along in a daily practice that will help the musician develop their skill on the horn and get into the advanced technical studies. For advanced musicians, we will look into the technical exercises that can be used in our daily routines of practicing. We will as well look into solo rep. and orchestral standards seen in auditions.
