Hi, my name is Skyler and I am drummer from Agoura Hills. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My musical influences include a variety of styles, including jazz, rock, fusion, funk, blues, metal, and world music. I also enjoy playing hand drums like tabla, djembe, tar, bongos, and cajon. My teaching style can best be described as structured, but engaging. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I wish to inspire my students to develop their craft and personal style. My lessons are custom tailored for each student, but, you can expect to learn rudiments, music theory, exercises from a variety of books, and songs by your favorite artists that I have already transcribed or can transcribe upon request. I like to tell my students that their journy as a drummer will always be fun and engaging, and that the discipline they naturally develop in practice and playing will transfer over to their life outside of the drum set. My favorite thing about teaching is helping the next generation of musicians learn the skills necessary to push music to the next level. My favorite performance was a solo percussion piece for a charity benefit, but what I love most is playing with other musicians off the stage, where everyone is willing to explore themselves in ways they often won't do when an audience is listening. My students love that I make practicee fun and teach them their favorite songs. I primarily teach beginners and intermediate drummers, but I can also teach advanced drummers. My approach as a teacher is to balance technique and musicianship training to create a well rounded drummer who is prepared to play with other musicians. Thanks for taking a look at my profile.
