Amanda has always loved music from an early age. She began playing piano at the age of 6 and has been playing for 31 years since! She has continued her education upon receiving a scholarship in Music Composition where her main instruments of focus were piano and voice. Amanda's favorite thing about music is being able to sit down and play emotions and feelings while creating compositions! She loves to explore where music can take her. Her favorite thing about teaching music is watching a student thrive in playing from the heart! When a student builds a chemistry with music, a positive change in their overall behavior, outlook on life, and choices begins to unfold. One of her favorite teaching experiences was when a student wanted to perform their own composition of combined piano and voice at a Spring Performance! What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced

In song writing and composition, students will learn the different patterns that are commonly used. They will spend time working on rhythm, flow, and creativity. Song writing ranges from jingles, to full poetry. Students can expect a well-thought-out lesson based on their previous knowledge and experience building from each previous lesson or focusing on re-teaching the previous information if they are still needing help before moving forward. I am a pretty conservative person, so professionalism is a must. Students will be kept on task as each minute of the lesson is important and beneficial to the learning process. Types of activities during the lessons will be planned based on the students age/maturity level as well as the music level they are on. After all, music is supposed to be fun! Throughout the student/teacher relationship, we will cover everything from theory, to emotion, to creativity, embellishment, music history/composers and musical change and development over time, to composition, to music performance. All of these things are important to fully encompass being a musician. "Music is what feelings sound like."
