Drum Lessons

12 Years
Playing the drums is my passion, and my goal is to bring that passion to my students! As a performing musician and educator in Charlotte, I have been fortunate to study under many great drummers over the last twelve years. These include drummers who have studied under the greats, from Joe Morello to Jon Riley. I’ve also been very lucky to learn under legendary drummers like Ron Wiltrout and Quentin Baxter. I do everything I can to teach my students as individual, unique learners. We start off in the fundamentals of stick control, rudiments, and reading, before moving toward a focus on groove, rhythm, and playing to music. At the end of the day, I try to teach my students to have confidence in their playing and have fun doing it! I’ve been teaching students from the ages of 3 to 15 for seven years now. I live in Charlotte, and am able to meet you in all the surrounding areas. Thanks, and I look forward to talking with you!
Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
My lessons are designed to create strong fundamentals in my students, giving them the most opportunity to grow, and to see that growth quickly. We'll cover the importance of proper stick control, Moeller technique, time-keeping, and reading ability. With this, we'll move forward on how to create solid groove that sits in the pocket, and approach rhythm differently depending on the songs and genres we begin to work on. Most importantly, I stress creativity, and developing confidence behind the drum set. I want my students to feel accomplishment when they learn new rhythms, grooves, or read a new piece of music. I also stress the importance of playing to music, as it's the key function of any good drummer!
