What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I suppose not to judge a student’s outcome and music when the student is at a beginner level. That’s what I learned and agreed with my professor, however the undergraduate student and novice level, they should follow by the instructor’s guide, teaching, and materials during the semester. Sometimes, I have to grade and make a correction for those students. That’s not teaching by rote, it is necessary for the foundation of guitar skill. When students get enough skill and theory, they can create their own music and practice routine. Before getting that standard, I would like to make them followed by my curriculum, exams, theory and performance skill. That’s all from my previous experiences at colleges and the professional music field. I also would recommend and teach classical music training for students. That’s just not about music style, it is more like physical training for a musician. It is also connected with brain and muscle memory. When I grade for guitar classes, I was considering about student performance at the beginning of the semester, and how much they improved and gained their abilities until the mid-term and final exam. It would be a relative evaluation by their level. I usually recommended and taught them about what they should know and practice to move on the next step and fix their weak point of playing. I have the same undergo trial and error many times during my school days. That experience was very valuable times for me. It is my foundation of music education to be teaching for new students.
