I am relatively new to the area and am teaching guitar at Metropolitan Academy of Music on Mercer Island.  Although I have been praised by the owner (for whom I would be happy to provide a reference contact), I don’t have enough students and the owner suggested I fill my roster at different schools. The board was the “thriller” board from Westlake. A state of the art recording facility in which I was responsible for advanced audio engineering and mixing. Clients included Dito Godwin, producer [No Doubt, Kiss, and Motley Crue].  Norman Whitfield, writer [‘Heard it through the grapevine,’ Ain’t too proud to beg and all the early Temptation’s, Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight and the Pips hits], members of Parliament Funkadelic, Stevie Salas, Beach Boys, plus many more upon request..                                                                 

I played guitar and vocals and recorded with award-winning and renowned artists such as The Beach Boys and the Byrds and many more. Received national exposure on “Midnight Special”I toured nationally and internationally with Grammy winner Jerry Naylor of the Crickets, Geno Washington, and the Ram Jam Band.  I started piano lessons at 6.  At 11, I rebelled and started playing guitar.  I played my first paying gig at 12 in a bar in North Hollywood, CA.  I have played thousands of pro gigs/recording/tour.  I’ve given piano and guitar lessons when I was young but stopped when the real world called with real gigs.  At one point, I took private instruction from Chicago’s guitar player who showed me the scales I missed while coming up in the industry.  This was a great help to me and I am passing this knowledge along in hopes that my students will achieve their goals.Now, I am older and I find teaching to be rewarding and fun and constantly find myself wanting to give extra time to my students.  I mostly teach beginners using the Hal Leonard Method book and give many handouts that have helped me in the past.  I am the tall guy playing the sunburst telecaster at audience left.  The gig was a favor for our mutual friend Billy Hinsche (Dino, Desi and Billy) who was doing his graduate work project.  The following week, we were on The Midnight Special with that ensemble.  I have recorded with the Beach Boys (Billy Hinsche was a member at the time) and even played mandolin on a Dennis Wilson album.  Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche produced a band I concocted which is how I met them.   I can also teach recording and proper gain structure which I performed professionally for over 15 years. My mentors were John Stronach who is the legendary Motown mixer who would do a mix in an hour and had 150 gold/platinum’s on his wall and John Haney who recorded Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, and the Doors as chief engineer of Elektra and then Sunset Sound. Thanks for your consideration.
