Merrilee R.

Merrilee began playing piano at the age of 5. Over the years, she developed her skills further by studying under the direction of her mother, an accomplished musician and by teaching herself genres and styles that were of interest to her, both through sight reading and ear training. She gained performance experience by playing at such venues as weddings, receptions, churches, retirement homes, funerals, bands, choirs and with acts such as His Messengers and One District Under a Groove. Though Merrilee can teach many genres of music, her musical personal favorites are Easy Listening, Pop, Worship Music/Hymns, and Blues which had great influence on her style of playing. Merrilee loves music because she grew up with a very talented mother who taught her respect and passion for all styles of music and she loves teaching music because her other natural talent is teaching and connecting with students at their individual level. She loves to watch their excitement when they discover something new and develop their skills, no matter how big or small.
