About Me

Mateo has always loved music from an early age. He began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and continued his education by joining the marching band in high school and studying for his Associates Degree in Music from Ohlone College. His musical influences include Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, and Vulfpeck. Mateo's favorite thing about music is being able to express emotions without words, and his favorite thing about teaching music is continuing to learn alongside his students. One of his favorite teaching experiences was coaching high school students in the Washington High School marching band. When taking lessons with Mateo you can expect a different type of teaching style that keeps students engaged and interested.
