Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a music student currently enrolled at UTEP. My current degree plan is for a Bachelors in Commercial Music. I have 2 years worth of teaching experience in music stemming from my time as a saxophone section leader at Del Valle High School. My musical influences stem mainly from my uncle who is a radio DJ in El Paso, but the artists that really shaped my tastes are Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, DeadMau5, and Avicii just to name a select few. My teaching philosophy is to be thorough, because of this I want my student to not only be able to do what they need to do but more importantly I want them to understand the concepts so that they may one day master them completely. My teaching style is a more calm one but I do have expectations of both myself and my students. My favorite part of teaching when I first began and still to this day is when I see my student finally understand the concept it is really an amazing thing! I primarily teach Saxophone, but I also do teach music production as I, like my uncle, am self-taught. And lastly my approach as a teacher is to be patient. I understand wholeheartedly how confusing music can be even with my 7 years of music experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to seeing you soon.
