Joseph M.

Joseph has been studying shoulder strings since he was 12 years old when he was taught by Steven Stark. Later on, Steven recommended he take lessons with Royce McLarry until going to college where he learned privately from Terry Langdon his first year and Dr. Nicole Brockmann the following 3 years. Since then he has performed many times solo, in small ensembles and large ensembles. He performed in COHO, NCHO, and Allstate in high-school as well as the Casady orchestra where he was concert master in high-school and the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras in OYO the top group. Joseph focused on viola performance at DePauw university where he performed 3rd chair in the DePauw University Orchestra and was hired into the Hendricks Symphony every semester except the semester he was studying music abroad in Vienna, Austria until he graduated with a Bachelors in Music. While at DePauw he also performed with many small ensembles including piano trios, piano quartets, string quartets, a piano Quintet with viola solo Joseph was that soloist, mariachi band as a violinist, several string trios in Vienna, and a viola flute duo. Joseph taught violin and viola at the Greencastle community music program for 3 years with students as young as age 11 and as old as 20. While in Oklahoma for the summers, Joseph performed in the Oklahoma Composers Orchestra and since graduating has become a permanent member of the OCO. Just recently Joseph was accepted into the Sooner Sinfonia orchestral group. Joseph loves teaching music and sharing his passion for music with his students.
