About Me

Hi, my name is Jasmin and I am a multi instrumentalist. I’m a military brat so I don’t consider myself as being from one place, more like a collection of places. I have been a student of music for 7 years. My musical influences include Rinat Ibragimov, B.B King, and Jimi Hendrix although I still have love for SRV. I also enjoy other forms of art whether visual or performance. My teaching style can best be described as tailored. Even though it is a good idea for musicians/artists to learns multiple forms, I will push you towards the style that you have the most interest in. In my lessons, you can expect to learn a little music theory to help give you an edge alongside a new way of appreciating and understand music.I like to tell my students that music ability can’t be purchased. You can have a piece of string attached to a wood block and be able to play a tune more musical than those with fancy equipment. My favorite thing about teaching is instilling this passion for music in my students. My favorite performance was when I was still a member of an orchestra and had the opportunity to play these intense and heavy yet masterful arrangements. As a contrabass player, I will say that it is an indescribable feeling to pour out such rich notes and have the overall physical and mental experience of orchestral playing. My students love that I can teach refined and modern styles at the same time, as I loved studying classics in many different genres. My approach as a teacher is to not only get physically connected with your art, but psychologically, as I can promise you that it has many significant effects on us and our way of thinking.
