Raymond has been playing and studying music for 12 years. First through world travel, as a child he spent years traveling to different countries and learning about their musical culture. Ray has studied at HWB School of the Arts and Florida Southern College, playing woodwinds primarily. He’s had a chance to play Bari Sax with the Ruth Eckerd Big Band as well as Bassoon with the Sarasota Youth Symphony. Ray received an Oboe internship with the BBC Concert Orchestra and was chosen to play Bari Sax two years running for All State Intercollegiate Band. Now Ray spends time playing percussion with the Rollins Wind Ensemble, Bari Sax with the Orlando Big Band, and various woodwinds or bass in the musicals the come through town. His teaching experience comes from drill instruction for marching bands in the Bay Area, as well as All County and All State prep with high schoolers and conducting small ensembles for local high schools. Ray enjoys explaining historical significance as well as modern relevance. Ray also tutors musicians in Theory and History work as well as score study and jazz interpretation.
