About Me

Professional Jazz Pianist/Bandleader/Composer and Educator! I've been playing piano for 12+years, and teaching for about half of that time in and around the Philly area. Performing is my main passion but I love teaching and sharing the gift of music with others. My lessons revolve around the individual students goals and aspirations, and I believe should never lose an emphasis on FUN and self-expression as the highest goal of learning an instrument. That said, I use everything from improvisation, ear training, rhythm exercises, technique building and holistic music theory concepts to make my students well-rounded musicians, not just scale-playing machines! I teach age ranges 8-80, and am comfortable teaching all styles and genres at the piano. Please get in touch today!

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

- Intermediate

An individually-tailored approach, curated around the needs and musical goals of the student, with an emphasis on technique and musical foundations as the means to self-expression, not the end in itself. I also employ ear-training, improvisation games and exercises, and an approach that balances learning and FUN to keep my lessons engaging, dynamic, and fulfilling. I believe learning repertoire is important as well as exploring more unique facets of music.

Performing Experience:

18+ years professional experience performing in all kinds of genres, contexts, and environments. From jazz piano bars to weddings, jam bands to cover bands, I have played too many gigs to name, traveling up and down the northeast and even across the pond to Europe on a few lucky occasions to ply my musical craft.

Experience Teaching:

Have taught ages 3-65. Everything from jazz, classical, gospel, rock, and pop tunes. Been doing it for 8 years now and every lesson/student ALWAYS brings something new to the table, often teaching ME something new about music in the process.
