About Me

Jose Romero-Ottonello is from Uruguay. He began studying piano and music theory at 8 years old. He obtains his bachelor’s degree in 2015. Also, He studied with Professor Stanimir Todorov between 2012-15 in Buenos Aires and Roberto Martinez del Puerto in Montevideo 2016-17. Likewise, he won the AMEXID Scholarship and finished his master’s degree with honors at the University of Science and Arts of Chiapas UNICACH, Mexico with professor Vladan Kočí. Also, he won GSTA Scholarship to attend LSU University in USA, to pursue a DMA in cello with Prof. Dennis Parker. Morover, Jose has worked at the OSSODRE National Symphonic Orchestra 2012-17, taught music at the University of the Republic in Uruguay 2013-15.

He was a firstello of the MEC Chamber Orchestra, Academic Chamber Orchestra of Montevideo, the Latin American Philarmonic Chamber Orchestra and MEC Youth Orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with the Loja Symphonic Orchestra Ecuador, 2019, Academic Chamber Orchestra Uruguay, 2017 and the MEC Chamber Orchestra Uruguay, 2012. HeHeas also a finalist in the Jaqueline Aubert Competititon at Sewanee Summer Music Festival USA, 2018 and 1st prize winner prize at the Juvenesses Musicales Competition 2012 and the Young Musicians Competition Uruguay, 2013.
