Hi, my name is Ucee and I am a violist born in Nigeria, but raised in the Maryland / Washington DC area. I have been playing the viola for 10 years. My musical influences include Drew Forde also known as thatviolakid, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and I also enjoy Timothy Ridout. My teaching style can best be described as innovative, structural and engaging. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe that every student has a musical voice and it is my job to help them find that voice through their instrument by planting the fundamentals that they need to achieve their musical goals.

In my lessons, you can expect to learn techniques, etudes, scales, a pieces of your choice, and why the viola is one of the coolest instruments ever!! I like to tell my students if you can sing it, you can play it! My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students make improvements of all sorts. My favorite performance is one that I actually performed last summer. I had the opportunity to perform the Dvorak American String Quartet at Blue Lake Fine Arts as part of the staff string quartet. It was such an amazing experience. My students love that I am very welcoming, energetic, and passionate about music. I primarily teach viola but I can also teach violin.

My approach as a teacher is to motivate my students to challenge themselves, and face obstacles that will contribute to their growth as a student and a musician. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
