About Me

My name is Mason, I've been involved with music from an early age. I picked up guitar early on and have learned a variety of chords, chord progressions and how to create a song using all of that knowledge. Songwriting is something I am passionate about and have a number of my own songs that are original and very much my own sound. I've had the pleasure of teaching a few students who were children of friends of mine. I am also experienced with drums and have been in a few bands as their drummer. It is in this experience that I really learned to love the music industry as well as the people involved in it. I have not yet had the opportunity to professionally teach someone how to play drums, but I have taught friends of mine the basics of drumming. Guitar, drums and songwriting are where most of my experience lies. I would love to share the knowledge I have gathered from my own mentors and apply it to someone who is just as eager to learn. Music is a lifestyle, and it's one that will always feel rewarding.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner -

Songwriting is a form of musical expression in which you can translate thoughts and feelings into lyrics that reflect your own perspective. Students can expect to learn the basics of songwriting, such as how to improvise lyrics through creative flow, how to organize their lyrics to match the flow of the instruments and how to implement verse-chorus form to add structure to their songs. Patience is vital to songwriting, allowing yourself the freedom and space to tap into those deeper thoughts and feelings so that each student feels comfortable expressing themselves through music.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons

Beginner -

Drum lessons would consist of getting to know each piece of equipment in a drum set and how each piece adds its own flare to the overall sound. My students can expect to learn how to hold their drumsticks, how to play different drum rudiments and how to apply the techniques they've learned into their practices.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

My lessons will consist of learning the ins and out of acoustic guitar. From the different variations of chords, chord progressions, frets, harmonics, strumming techniques, how to tune your guitar and proper care of instruments, as well as types of tools you can use to add variety to your play styleCapos, tuners, etc.. Another lesson I intend to teach is creativity and the ability to explore the guitar so that you can build a relationship with your instrument and express your feelings and thoughts through it.

Formal Education:

Currently studying Business and Environmental Science.

Private Education:

Currently studying music composition, mixing, mastering and music theory in my spare time.

Performing Experience:

Wide range of live performances. From playing gigs as a drummer/guitarist to playing solo at open mics.

Have had the pleasure of teaching guitar to many bright minds from our younger generations.
