About Me

Hi, my name is Armando and I am a percussionist from El Paso, Texas. I have been a student of music for 8 years. My musical influences include jazz drummers such as Buddy Rich, Max Roach, and Elvin Jones and I also enjoy watching drumcorp groups such as the Bluecoats and Blue Devils. My teaching style can best be described as a breaking down and understanding on fundamentals regarding playing technique and music reading. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that no one becomes a professional overnight, and to become great musician, hard work and practice is a must. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the fundamentals of whatever percussion instrument you are choosing to play, how to develop and build on those fundamentals, and how to become an efficient player. I like to tell my students to "trust the process." Meaning that any difficulty they encounter in their musical journey is something that they can overcome, they just have to have trust in themselves, and their teacher.

My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students develop their skills and growing as musicians. My favorite performance was performing in the Alamodome in San Antonio with my high schoolmarching band. I primarily teach Snare Drum but I can also teach Drum Set, and Mallet Percussion.
