I've been teaching myself to play a variety of instruments for about a decade. My influences range anywhere from rock music to jazz theory and hip-hop. I can break down any type of music and teach someone to play it, apart from very advanced jazz and classical music. I'm self-taught, but my teaching style revolves around traditional theory and exploring recordings and styles. I love to teach people how to play, It's one of my favorite feelings. My main instrument is guitar, but I can also play bass guitar, drums, keys, and I'm fairly experienced in songwriting and composition.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I will base my teaching on the student's favorite music, and break it down so they can understand how it works and be able to play it themselves. I will also teach some fundamental principles that will allow them to navigate their guitar, including chord theory and scales so they can have a better understanding of the music they love. Guitar is my main instrument and I have a formidable knowledge of jazz theory which allows me to learn most music by ear and teach a student how it works.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
My bass guitar lessons will be centered around the principles of traditional harmony and how they can be used to create a bass line and how they are used in the music we know and love.
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
I've been playing drums for 10 years. My lessons will be centered around listening to the music the student is interested in, and breaking it down so they can emulate it on their kit. I will focus on the principles of rhythm and timing, as they relate to recordings.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
My song writing lessons will be based on the rules of harmony and how we can use chord families, scales and modulations to create original music. In addition, I will ask the student about the music they enjoy and beak it down so they can understand the underlying musical structure, as well as the lyrical content. I can explain many popular ways of writing music ranging from the blues to pop progressions, to r & b and even more advanced, bebop and other types of jazz.
What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
I've been working on Logic Pro X for about 5-6 years. My production lessons will guide the student every step between an initial idea for an original recording/track, to using plugins, virtual instruments, audio interfaces and microphones to build a track within the DAW, and even mixing and engineering.
