I earned a BA in Music from Seattle Pacific University in 2017 and an MA in Musicology from the University of Oxford in 2019. I began piano lessons at the age of four and have experience teaching piano instruction to children under the age of ten, as well as experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students through an internship position in Rajasthan, India. I also gained training in organ performance for four years through my undergraduate University. My objectives as an instructor are to advance students in not only keyboard fluency and music reading, but also in overall musicianship skills and creativity. This might include attention to critical listening, ear training, music theory, the historical context of a piece, a composition challenge, etc., while my underlying aim is to support and embolden students in their musical pursuits and creativity. I am very adaptable to people and environments, and believe I have the interpersonal and communication skills requisite for creating a supportive and uplifting atmosphere that encourages students of any background to ask questions and pursue challenges with confidence and reassurance. The relationships I have maintained with previous educators from my elementary school through to my graduate education and families of children I have tutored bear witness to the amount of value I hold in relationships between educators and students. These qualities makes me a desirable candidate for individuals and parents seeking rapport with a music instructor.
