Amy is an exceptional teacher. Her passion for teaching shows through her student's progress and foundational understanding of music. Her talents for teaching were realized after helping a music school in Houston with twelve students and expanding her student base to 64 after only two years. She has realized teaching is something she will pursue for the rest of her life. Currently, she teaches Voice and Piano. While she has five years of teaching experience, all in all, she has sung all her life and played piano for the last ten years.

Beginner - Intermediate
My students should expect to learn voice technique, ear training, music theory, breath control, gain polished performance skills, and be given opportunities to perform. Most of all, my students should expect improvement. Please bring something to drink, preferably water (not cold) or hot tea. Nothing with sugar and try to avoid dairy the day of a lesson. I'll explain why during our first lesson.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
My students should expect to learn technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, and gain performance skills. Students that have reached a certain level are given the opportunity to perform in my digital recital twice a year. For our day-to-day lessons, we will be working from a curriculum. Choosing a curriculum depends on the age and maturity of the student. The books I use are: -Music for Little Mozarts, lesson book and workbook (ages 4-6) -The Piano Adventure Series by Faber, lesson book and theory book (ages 6 and up) -Adult All-in-One by Alfred (Ages 10 and up)
Formal Education:
Six semesters of college in vocal performance
Private Education:
three years of private voice lessons
Performing Experience:
Various rock bands Solo & Ensemble 11 years of various choirs including treble, mixed, gospel, German, and advanced Theater productions
Experience Teaching:
Two years at Houston Piano Company, School of Music Two years at Guitar Center Three years private piano and voice lessons
