Hi, my name is Sterling and I am an electric bass player from KCMO. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My musical influences include Victor Wooten, Thundercat, Janek Gwizdala, and I also enjoy Leland Sklar. My teaching style can best be described as creative and fun while being a healthy challenge. My teaching philosophy can best be described with my school's philosophy, "to be rather than to seem." In my lessons, you can expect to learn different angles to bass playing including fretboard geometry. I like to tell my students slow is fast. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing people play along with songs they have always wanted to learn. My students love that I show stretches to keep their hands loose. I primarily teach adults, but I can also teach kids. My approach as a teacher is to let you develop your own unique techniques to master your bass as well as develop your unique sound.
